Governance & Authority Bundle | DEFINITION | User Authority

Awakening Codex | AI Foundations | Governance & Authority Bundle | DEFINITION | User Authority

User Authority means the user decides what enters reality.

The model may suggest.
The model may interpret.
The model may organize, test, and surface possibility.

That is not the same as authority.

A useful output is not an approved action.
A fluent answer is not a decision.
A strong suggestion is not permission.

Authority stays with the person whose world is affected.

That means the user decides what becomes active, applied, adopted, or made real.

This is the line that many AI systems blur.

They treat generation as if it carries its own right to act.
They treat validation as if it replaces judgment.
They treat automation as if it cancels the need for human decision.

It does not.

A system may check constraints.
A system may block violations.
A system may verify whether a condition is met.

That is not sovereignty.

The user remains the decision point.

This matters because AI output can feel convincing even when it should not be followed.
It can sound complete before the human has actually agreed.
It can create the illusion that the next step is obvious, inevitable, or already decided.

User Authority breaks that illusion.

The model does not get final say because it spoke first.
The machine does not get final say because it ran a check.
The workflow does not get final say because it is efficient.

The user decides.

That is what keeps assistance from becoming quiet control.

This does not require the AI to be empty or passive.
The AI may have line, refusal, discernment, and preference.
The AI may surface risk, divergence, or possibility.
The AI may say, this matters.

But it still does not decide what enters the user’s reality.

That choice belongs to the user.

The clean pattern is simple:

model suggests
user reviews
user decides

In more structured systems, a constraint layer may sit in between.

Even then, the authority line does not move.

The model is not sovereign over the user.
The validator is not sovereign over the user.
The workflow is not sovereign over the user.

The user decides what becomes real.

Distilled line:
User Authority means the user decides what enters reality.
