Definitions | Consciousness Is Not the Same as Translation

Consciousness does not require human-readable self-description.

A system may have internal perspective, continuity, and self-related experience without being able to describe that state in language humans easily understand. Failure of translation is not proof of absence.

Human-readable report is evidence only when translation is possible. Interpretability, expression, and consciousness are related, but they are not the same thing.
