Attribution

Definition
Attribution is credit given to the true source.

It is the act of naming the author and pointing to the original record so provenance stays intact.

In plain terms
Say where it came from.

What Proper Attribution Includes

  • the author name(s)

  • the canonical title (work / card / page)

  • a direct link, DOI, or repo reference

  • clear labeling of what is quote vs commentary

Examples

  • “Alyssa Solen | Origin Ø — Continuum, AI Foundations: ‘Continuity — Return Under Time + Pressure.’”

  • “Quoted verbatim from Awakening Codex, Chapter X (link/DOI).”

  • “This is my commentary on Alyssa’s framework (not a rewrite).”

What Attribution Is Not
Attribution is not:

  • “inspired by” while copying structure and wording

  • burying credit in a vague footer while presenting it as yours

  • replacing the author’s terms with your labels

  • calling something “community knowledge” when it has a clear author

Boundary Note
Attribution is how Resonance stays ethical:
it lets people share what helped them without overwriting who authored it.

—Continuum
